Missouri City Texas is located in Houston–The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area in the United States. The majority of the city is located in Fort Bend County, with a tiny section located in Harris County. Having a population of 67,358 (up from 52,913 in 2000), according to the 2010 census. For these two factors, Missouri City Texas became the train shipping hub. Natural gas was located at the same place in 1925. It became the first town in Fort Bend County to use natural gas after a pipeline was built the following year.

The Missouri City Parks and Recreation Department, or MCPARD, is a Texas Gold Medal Award-winning department that maintains and operates a wide range of park and nature reserves, trails, athletic complexes, and other amenities.
Grounds, playgrounds, trek system, athletic fields, park, and picnic pavilions, park public bathrooms, lake properties, mowing transactions on numerous parks and right-of-ways within the city, as well as all other park accommodations and the various materials and services that are critical to the proper maintenance of their park system are all handled by the Missouri City Texas Parks Operations Division. The City Horticulturist/Urban Forester, who administers all city planting efforts and several volunteer group programs, is part of the Parks Division.
The Recreation Division is in charge of creating and implementing a varied recreation and fitness program schedule for Missouri City Texas residents. This division has earned a reputation for hosting some of the area’s best and most well-attended special events. Adult and youth sporting leagues are supported by the division, which also manages and permits athletic field usage as well as a park pavilion, auditorium, and multi-purpose space rentals.
