History of Pearland, TX
In the late 1880s, when the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railways were expanding their lines, the area now known as Pearland was established. The neighborhood used to be known as “Mark Belt.” It wasn’t until 1893 that the first post office opened in the region. The city was renamed Pearland that same year. Pearland was founded in 1894 and quickly became famous for its pears and figs. The city’s namesake fruit is arguably its most well-known feature.
The abundance of pears in the area inspired the proliferation of names for it. Some of the local property developers have even marketed this area as an “agricultural Eden.” The Polish nobleman Witold von Zychlinski named the city Pearland because he was impressed by the abundance of fruit trees in the area, and today the city even features edible walking routes where visitors can try some of Pearland’s world-famous fruit.

You can go for a walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery in this region of the United States at Independence Park, one of the best parks in Pearland with 1.6 miles of paths.
