THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TOMBALL, TX

 

Tomball Texas has a lot to offer being in less than 30 miles northwest of Houston’s buzzing heart. Tomball’s more than 150 years of history parallels that of the Lone Star State in many aspects. The thick pine forest was initially colonized by German pioneers who developed farms and ranches. The opening of a large railroad terminal in the early 1900s was so significant to local residents that the town was renamed after the man who was responsible for routing the railroad through the town. The discovery of oil in 1933 ushered in a new era of economic growth that continues to this day.

With a population of 11,689 people, Tomball Texas is a Houston suburb. And is located in Harris County, now considered one of Texas’ greatest places to live. Tomball is home to many families and young professionals, and people tend to hold moderate political views. Tomball’s public schools are also well regarded.

Restaurants in Tomball, TX

A variety of cuisines are served by different restaurants in Tomball Texas. The Che Gaucho Restaurant, for one, serves a low-key alternative for traditional Argentinian dishes like empanadas and skirt steak. Another one is Bonfire Grill, an eatery serving casual American pub meals, wood-fired pizza, and whiskey cocktails. There is also the Goodson’s Cafe which features a southern home-cooking and is famous for substantial chicken-fried steak. Other down-home favorites include Gianna Italian Kitchen, a local café with a broad menu of classic Italian food served in an old-fashioned setting. Tomball Texas has just a lot of food spots to offer!

 


Entertainment in Tomball, TX

Tomball’s German history and the railroad’s importance in its heritage are as evident now as they were then. In order to get a firsthand glimpse at its early history, residents in Tomball can visit the Tomball Museum Center which features a collection of antique 19th-century homes, churches, and buildings. One can also drive downtown to the Tomball Depot to explore a train of memorabilia, art, antiques, and even a model railroad. The Depot, as it always has been, is also the heart of Tomball Texas’ activities. The Depot is home to the Mudbug Festival, providing you with even more reasons to visit while you’re there. Tomball also holds city staple festivals such as The Tomball German Heritage Festival, the Tomball Bluegrass Festival and the Rails & Tails.

Severak parks in Tomball Texas like Juergens Park, Jerry Matheson Park, Martin Luther King Jr. Park, and Broussard Park are complete with trails and playgrounds.

Tomball Texas is home to many shopping and grocery centers like its very own Tomball Town Center, a sprawling outdoor shopping mall featuring a variety of stores & restaurants, and Tomball Marketplace, a convenient area with good shopping spots, and numerous restaurants to choose from such as  The Silver Strawberry, Marshalls, Rachael’s Hallmark Shop, and a lot more!

 


Schools in Tomball, TX

Tomball Texas is part of the Tomball ISD, which presently covers 83 square miles in northwest Harris and southwest Montgomery counties and is about 30 miles from downtown Houston. Over 18,500 pupils are now enrolled in the district’s 21 schools. For the 2018-19 school year, Tomball ISD achieved an overall A grade, which is the same as the previous year’s A rating. According to an August report, TISD is one of 301 school districts and charter schools that received an overall A grade in 2018-19.

Some of the top schools are Creekside Forest Elementary, Timber Creek Elementary, Willow Creek Elementary, and Canyon Pointe Elementary.
