New Caney is part of Montgomery County in Texas USA. Based on the 2010 population data, there are 19,987 locals in the community.

Upon its founding in 1892, New Caney Texas was initially called Presswood. The pioneering settlers were Austin and Sarah Waters Presswood. Additional settlers came in as led by Captain John Robertson. Mills, cattle ranches, and stores were established at that time along Caney Creek. Development started upon receiving a railroad from the East and West Texas Railway. The Caney Station played a major part as it became the imports’ and exports’ shipping points. Because of this, more businesses flourished in the area. As its first post office was established in 1882, Preswood was registered as New Caney, which later on became a common term to residents.

New Caney Texas’ population in 1884 was only sixty people. By 1892, it totaled 150 residents and in the 20th century, this charming community continued to grow. The climate in New Caney Texas is humid subtropical, which is humid with hot summers and in general, mild to cool winters.
