New Caney is part of Montgomery County in Texas USA. Based on the 2010 population data, there are 19,987 locals in the community.
Upon its founding in 1892, New Caney Texas was initially called Presswood. The pioneering settlers were Austin and Sarah Waters Presswood. Additional settlers came in as led by Captain John Robertson. Mills, cattle ranches, and stores were established at that time along Caney Creek. Development started upon receiving a railroad from the East and West Texas Railway. The Caney Station played a major part as it became the imports’ and exports’ shipping points.
