Sugar Land Texas is a populous suburban municipality centered around the junction of Texas State Highway 6 and U.S. Route 59. It is located about 19 miles (31 km) southwest of downtown Houston. It is bordered by Stafford, Missouri City, and Meadows Place to the east. As one of the fastest-growing areas in Houston, it has always been a go-to place for most tourists and locals as its weather is classified as being humid subtropical, featuring four seasons. Just perfect for most outdoor activities!

The primary entertainment district is the Town Square which has different array of restaurants, sidewalk cafes, shopping venues, conference centers including the Marriott Hotel, a public plaza, mid-rise offices and homes, and the City Hall. Important events like festivals take place in this lively plaza. Town Square has received an award, “Best Community Impact” given by Houston Business Journal.

The city of Sugar Land has the most master-planned communities in Fort Bend County, which is home to the largest number of master-planned communities in the nation—including First Colony, Greatwood, New Territory, Telfair, Sugar Creek, River Park, Imperial, Riverstone, and many more. Sugar Creek is the very first community that was master-planned in the area. In the overall jurisdiction of Sugar Land, there are currently 13 master-planned communities.

Sugar Land Texas’ First Colony has a variety of subdivisions. It is vastly master-planned in the center of Sugar Land Texas specifically on Houston’s southwest side. First Colony is unsurpassed in terms of facilities and conveniences, and it inspires a sense of family and community. It offers a unique mix of modern and Mediterranean residential areas and businesses, as well as design rules that safeguard the environment.

Greatwood is a huge, picturesque golf course neighborhood located on Interstate 59 just south of Sugar Land Texas. Greatwood is one of the only naturally forested subdivisions in Southwest Houston, with over 3,000 residents. Sugar Creek is the first community you’ll see while driving into Sugar Land from Houston on I-59. The majority of the 1700+ homes in this area were built between 1972 and 1983, with a few New Orleans-style homes thrown in for good measure. These homes are typically two-story homes with three bedrooms, two baths, and around 2867 square feet with two-car garages, with a median lot size of 9,365 square feet.

Sugar Creek, one of Fort Bend’s earliest and best master-planned neighborhoods, gracefully meanders around the Sugar Creek golf course, which is home to the Sugar Creek Country Club. Because this is an older community, there are few facilities available unless you join the country club.

Commonwealth is a charming community along Sugar Land’s southside, located between Avalon Sugar Land and Sweetwater. Commonwealth, Sutton Forest, Sutton Park, and Oxford are the four subdivisions that make up the area. The majority of Commonwealth’s 520+ homes were built between 1987 and 1996 and are Traditional in design. These houses are typically two-story homes with 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and roughly 3981 square feet of living space with 2-car garages and a median lot size of 10,935 square feet.
