Friendswood is a well-known city of extraordinary geographics in the state of Texas, USA. It is part of the Houston–The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area. Referred to as having the best of both worlds, Friendswood Texas lies in Galveston and Harris Counties. As of the 2010 census, the population data was 35,805.

CNN/Money Magazine has rated Friendswood Texas as one of “America’s Best Places to Live” in 2007. Founded in 1895 by members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Today, Friendswood Texas houses the Houston headquarters for the Quaker Society.

From its founding years, life in Friendswood Texas revolved around two things: church and school. After the 1900 storm, the surviving families who lived in Friendswood built a large two-story frame structure for their church and school. It was called The Academy, which housed the school and served as a sanctuary until a solid stone building replaced it. Post-1950, the area became a suburban community. Because of its idyllic country setting, the farmlands were converted to homesite subdivisions. Later on, the small community became a populous city upon its incorporation in 1960.
