Montgomery County, Houston is within The Woodlands-Sugar Land metro areas. In 2010, it had a population count of 621. During the Texas Republic, Montgomery County was the 3rd county created, and was formally founded in 1848, with Nathaniel Hart Davis as its first mayor. There are 12 square kilometers (12 square miles) of land within the city. The total land area is 4.5 square miles (12 km2), and the total water area is 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2). Water accounts for 1.31 percent of the area.
